The Creation of Mt. Washmore

A Tale of NeverEnding Laundry

By Trisha Adams January 18, 2020

Mt. Washmore wasn’t built in a day. Rather, it was built over time, with a lot of time, and not enough care and attention. It helped that there are nine people in the home, wearing clothes daily, and taking them off to throw them in the pile!

It started over Thanksgiving break, All the kids were home for the week. We had the Thanksgiving Holiday. There was also the snow storm and power outage. With four of those nine people, constantly being underfoot, or needing direct care and attention, it made it very hard to stay on top of the small mound of laundry that had begun to form.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Another holiday, Christmas, came, again bringing the kids home for the holiday break. There were parties, and shopping, and holiday events scheduled, along with the normal day to day activities. The small mound continued to grow and grow. Some days, I would be able to get one or two loads in, which did lessen the pile. And some days, the littles would look at that ever growing mound and jump into it like a pile of leaves on a crisp Autumn day.

Finally, after two months of barely making a dent, I had had enough. I chiseled away at Mt. Washmore, filling one basket at a time, until 5 baskets and 3 tubs were completely full of all of Mt. Washmore. 18 loads in total. Off to the laundromat I went. It took me 2hrs to wash and dry, and another hour and half to fold! Mt. Washmore is no more! Atleast, until the next holiday, where all the kids are home!!

Anyone else have this problem?
