Monster Jam Pit Party

Here are 5 Reasons you should make sure to attend the Pit Party at Monster Jam.

Food Trucks

There is no need to eat before going to the Monster Jam Pit Party. Some of the best Food Trucks in So Cal were present inside the Pit Party. There was everything from Hot Dogs, to BBQ, Korean food, and even Mexican food. Don’t fret, there was also a truck offering yummy goodies designed to satisfy your Sweet Tooth.

Kids Activities

Monster Jam Pit Party kept the little ones in mind when they brought in activities to keep them busy and active. The Building Zone was super fun. Kids were able to purchase and build their own Monster Trucks. There was also a tall slide to give the kids their thrills. Great Clips Hair Salon was there offering FREE spray hair color for all ages.

Take a Ride in the Grave Digger Bus

For $20, you can ride the Grave Digger Bus around a mini track. Conjure your inner Monster Truck driver as you whip around the curves. Feel the power of the engine as the driver hits the gas and revs the engine. If you or your kids are thrill-seekers, this ride is sure to satisfy you.

Monster Jam Merch Tables

One of the perks of hitting the Pit Party before the night’s events is to get your favorite Monster Jam merchandise before everyone else. You will find T-shirts, hats, posters, and even monster truck toys of all your favorite drivers. You can then take your merchandise and head over to get autographs.

Photos and Autographs with the Drivers and Trucks

See all the trucks from the competition up close and personal. Standing next to the wheels really puts into perspective how big these trucks are and how much power it takes to drive them.  Monster Jam drivers are some of the best. We were happy to stand in line to get our favorite driver’s autograph and get a photo with them. You may even find a new favorite. It was awesome to meet these guys face to face. When we watched them out on the track, we had a more personal connection to the race and who we wanted to win.

Monster Jam- The Competition

First off, we had great seats. We could see the whole stadium from where we sat, which also meant we could see the whole course that would be driven on throughout the event. The night started off with a patriotic tribute to our Service Men and Women, both Active Duty and Retired, as well as First Responders. This was followed by a sneak peek of SuperCross which was coming the next weekend to Angel’s Stadium.

Event #1: Racing

This is where two trucks are paired up against each other to see who can cross the finish line first. The winner advances to the next round until the two final trucks are pitted against each other. You could tell that each of the drivers had practiced hard and were fully in it, to win it. Some of them had pushed themselves a bit too hard, which resulted in them tipping over, or blowing something on the engine. In the end, the winner ended up being Jamey Garner driving Over Bored. This was Jamey’s first win. What also made this win a bit sweeter, was that Monster Truck racing is a family affair for the Garner family. Jamey’s wife and daughter attend every Monster Jam event with Jamey. When Jamey won the race, other drivers, even the one he raced against, jumped out of their trucks and ran over to him and gave him bear hugs, slaps on the back and high fives. It was a show of great sportsmanship.

Event #2: Two-Wheel Skills

This event is where each truck gets to show off their skills driving on two wheels. Some of the trucks spun around on two wheels, while others did an upright on two wheels skill. Some of the trucks did donuts and spun around. The winner was Jim Koehler driving Avenger.

Event #3: Freestyle

The freestyle event is the most exciting of all three events. Each truck really got to show off their skills during this competition. High jumps, donuts, spins, wheelies all had the crowd yelling with excitement and screaming for more. The trick that really had the crowd out of their seats, was watching as a few trucks attempted backflips. This event is last because so many of the trucks push themselves to the point of destruction. Many of the trucks had to be towed off the field. The winner of this event was the only female driver in this competition. Driving El Toro Loco was Becky McDonough.

The Overall Winner for the night was Jim Koehler driving Avenger. From the Pit Party to the very end, the energy was high, and the entire experience was fun. It did get very cold. I would highly recommend bringing a blanket and a jacket. You can bring snacks and drinks into the stadium., which we did. It helped to keep the costs down once we were inside.
