Let me introduce you to Antoinette Adams of Busy Bee Clay. Antoinette is a local Yucaipa mom of 3 boys, two of which are toddlers. Most days, the boys keep her super busy, but Antoinette needed an outlet for her creativity. One day, she saw someone post about purchasing some clay earrings, and she knew that she could easily make those herself. So, she bought herself some clay and began working on earrings when the boys napped or went to bed for the night. From there, Busy Bee Clay was born.
Currently, Antoinette makes polymer clay earrings and some other clay goods. She is working on making clay necklaces, hair clips, and essential oil diffusers, and once she has perfected them, she will eventually be offering those as well. Her most popular product right now is the Light Granite Arch Earrings. When I asked Antoinette what she loves most about her work she said, "I love that working with clay, no 2 pieces are exactly the same. From the little lumps that didn’t roll out, to the tiny ridges. Every piece is it’s own."
As a stay at home mom, turned work from home mom, it is important to take care of yourself. Antoinette sets up time away from her duties at home once a week or every two weeks. Being able to run an errand alone, or vegging out on Netflix before bed gives her the time she needs to just breathe and rejuvenate. Thankfully she has help to allow her these self-care moments.
One piece of advice that Antoinette offered up for those wanting to start their own business, "Just go for it with no excuses. If I can do it while my kids sleep, you can do it too! Believe in yourself! You are worth it!
