A Note From Your Publisher, Trish: Info on Event Cancellations

As information is ever evolving with the Coronavirus, it means the situation changes quickly

By Trisha Adams March 14, 2020

This is an uncertain time, and things seem to be changing by the day -- if not the hour -- with coronavirus and the reaction to it as health officials and the government try to slow its spread.

Many events all around us are being canceled and I have marked any events on the calendar as such as I hear about them. But I always recommend verifying event details with the venue before you attend, and it is especially important to do so right now as some events may be canceled with little to no notice.

Macaroni Kid Redlands Highland will update our calendar as we hear of cancellations. For instance, Big Bounce America in San Bernardino, Pinners Conference in Pomona, and the SB ArtsFest have either been canceled or postponed. As of the writing of this, A.K. Smiley Library will be open, however, all of their storytimes and extra events have been canceled until at least April. The San Bernardino County Libraries- Highland, Yucaipa, Loma Linda, and Mentone are open and have not canceled their storytimes. Moo La La is also closing early, with today being their 50% Discount Day!

If you hear of any event cancelations not reflected on the Macaroni Kid Redlands Highland events calendar, please reach out to me at trishaa@macaronikid.com or on our Facebook page and I will update the calendar.

Please watch the CDC, the California Department of Health, and the San Bernardino County Health Department for the latest news.

And, of course, please take care of yourselves and your family. (But leave some toilet paper for the rest of us.)

Before I go, I wanted to share this from TheFosterLife.com:

We set the tone in our home. We cannot control what is on the outside, but we can control what happens on the inside. Your children look to you for safety, stability, and love. Make sure when they look to you during this time, you are showing them what they need to see.

Use this time of uncertainty to connect with your kids. Play with them. Laugh with them. Let this time be used to hit the reset button on our priorities and lives. Breathe in each moment and find Joy. Take the precautions you need to take, but don't overstress. We will get through this.
